Apple has silently launched its first over-ear headphones named AirPods Max. These are the same pair of headphones that were widely rumored to go official as AirPods Studio. The headphones are premium-looking and packed with all the features you would expect from a flagship headphone. And yes, they cost a premium as well.
The AirPods Max is being touted as “innovative wireless headphones” which is not surprising since this is Apple we are talking about. Some of the key features include custom acoustic design, high-fidelity audio with the help of H1 chips, computational audio experience, and various sound modes to suit your need and preferences. There are five color options to choose from Space Gray, Sky Blue, Silver, Pink, and Green.
The headphones make use of breathable knit mesh that spans over the headband for a comfortable wearing experience. It is said to distribute weight evenly and eventually reduce on-head pressure. The headband arms can be extended for a perfect fit and Apple says once you do that, they stay in place. Each of the ear cushions features “acoustically engineered memory foam”.
The AirPods Max is claimed to last for up to 20 hours on a single charge. Apple has also launched a Smart Case for the headphones that automatically puts them in an ultralow-power state. It essentially helps the battery last for a longer period of time when not in use.
Apple has priced the AirPods Max at $549 in the United States. This makes them one of the expensive over-ear headphones that you can buy. These are already up for preorders via the Apple website, Apple Store application, and physical stores with shipments to begin December 15th.
