Vivo has introduced a 120W fast-charging solution for Vivo iQOO 7 earlier this year and actually followed through with an announcement of a smartphone with the technology. The Vivo iQOO 5 Pro 5G is currently the only handset in the world with such powerful charging capabilities and it looks like a successor is already in the pipelines.
A device codenamed V2049A, likely to be part of the iQOO 7 series, was spotted on 3C with a 120W charger.
While we have no official confirmation this is an iQOO phone, this line-up is de-facto Vivo’s flagship family since the X phones are better positioned in the upper midrange part of the spectrum, while the NEX is more of a concept-made-reality type of series.
Of course, we would love to see the 120W fast-charging in a non-flagship phone but there aren’t many chipsets that support the current solution Vivo has implemented – dual 6C battery cells that charge simultaneously.
It is easy to predict only the iQOO 7 Pro will have the 120W fast charging, but the more important matter is whether we’ll see this phone outside China or just like the iQOO 5 Pro it will remain for domestic eyes only.
